2016 Urzig/Erden Trocken

I adore the Rebenhof website. Wine content for adults.

Only an irrational ranking of the 2016 vintage could be responsible for the survival of this bottle.

Rebenhof 2016 Riesling Trocken
11.5% abv. AP 05. 1000ml. $20-25 would be fair, but Johannes Schmitz will ship it to you in Michigan for only $6 a bottle! This is a scandal, especially for your thesis of well adjusted markets.

EYE: the usual pressurized pop under the lid and a cloud of gas prepare expectations of NOSE: prim posy, and grave, tectonic breaks of bedrock. Spring showers. Lime. MOUTH: voluptuous and sweet for a trocken. Also, lean and busy. Transparent flavor of lithic salts, cress, cake icing, and lemon balm. There’s a fortunate dilution in evidence here. As it drinks, it dries, and the balance is maintained exquisitely thanks to the mediation of calcified water. Original, sincere, and profoundly useful wine. 89 points.

This is the easiest to drink, immediately finishable 89-point wine I ever drank. And it was a liter!

Cellarmaster edit:

EYE: a familiar pressurized pop under the stelvin, and a cloud of gas in the pour prepare expectations of preservative prickle. NOSE: prim posy, and grave, tectonic breaks of bedrock. Spring showers. Lime. MOUTH: voluptuous and sweet for a trocken. Also, lean and busy. The gas solution is evident and dismissible. Transparent flavor of lithic salts, cress, cake icing, and lemon balm. There’s a fortunate dilution in evidence here. As it drinks, it dries and bitters. The balance is maintained exquisitely thanks to mediation of calcified water. Original, sincere, and profoundly useful wine.
